Therapy for ADHD & Neurodivergent Professionals

Many of our clients are entrepreneurs, creatives, and professionals who discovered their ADHD later in life.

Find out more

You might recognize yourself here if you…

• feel constantly mentally active or restless

• struggle with organization despite strong ability
• experience bursts of productivity followed by burnout
• were diagnosed with ADHD later in life
• feel misunderstood in work or relationships

When Your Brain Works Differently Than the Systems Around You

Many of our clients are highly capable professionals who have spent years being told they are “too much,” “too scattered,” or “too sensitive.”

You may be creative, intelligent, and successful — yet everyday systems of work, organization, and communication still feel harder than they should.

Many entrepreneurs, creatives, and professionals eventually realize their brain simply works differently than the environments they operate in.

Therapy helps you understand how your mind and nervous system work — and build ways of living and working that actually support it.

Common Challenges for Neurodivergent Professionals

 You might recognize patterns like:

  • difficulty organizing or prioritizing tasks despite strong ability
  • constant mental activity that never fully shuts off
  • hyperfocus followed by burnout
  • time blindness and inconsistent  productivity
  • masking or monitoring yourself in social or professional situations
  • strong reactions to criticism or perceived rejection
  • relationship strain due to communication differences

Many professionals succeed for years through intelligence and effort — but the cost of constant compensation can become exhausting.

How Therapy Helps

Therapy can help you:

  • understand how your brain and nervous system operate
  • reduce burnout from masking and overcompensating
  • build systems that actually work for ADHD and neurodivergent minds
  • improve communication and relationship dynamics
  • develop sustainable ways to function at a high level

Rather than trying to “fix” neurodivergence, therapy focuses on working with how your brain naturally functions.

Our Approach

At RTPC we integrate approaches that support both nervous system regulation and practical functioning, including:

  • Somatic psychotherapy
  • EMDR and trauma-informed therapy
  • executive functioning support
  • nervous system regulation skills

Our work often focuses on helping clients reduce shame from years of criticism while building more sustainable ways to work, lead, and live.

What Often Improves...Clients often notice changes:

Work & Productivity

• clearer prioritization and decision-making

• fewer burnout cycles

• systems that support how your brain works

Nervous System Regulation

• less constant mental pressure

• better stress recovery after intense work periods

• improved sleep and emotional regulation

Relationships

• easier communication with partners and colleagues

• reduced conflict related to ADHD patterns

• feeling more understood and less self-critical

Many of our clients discovered their ADHD later in life — sometimes after years of being told they were scattered, too sensitive, or not living up to their potential. You do not need a formal diagnosis to begin therapy. If you recognize patterns of hyperfocus and burnout, difficulty with organization despite strong ability, time blindness, emotional intensity, or exhaustion from masking and overcompensating, therapy can help you understand and work with how your brain actually functions.

Yes. Many of our ADHD clients are creatives, performers, writers, designers, and entrepreneurs — people whose ADHD traits like hyperfocus, pattern recognition, and creative thinking helped them build a career, while other traits like inconsistent follow-through, emotional regulation, and time management continue to create challenges. We understand the specific way ADHD shows up in creative and entrepreneurial work.

No. Therapy at RTPC does not treat neurodivergence as a problem to fix. Our work focuses on helping you understand how your brain and nervous system operate, reduce the shame that often comes from years of criticism or misunderstanding, and build ways of living and working that actually support how you function — rather than constantly fighting against it.

Depending on what you bring to therapy, sessions may focus on understanding your nervous system and stress patterns, reducing burnout from years of masking or overcompensating, improving emotional regulation, building communication skills for work and relationships, developing routines and systems that work for an ADHD brain, and processing any trauma or shame connected to years of feeling misunderstood.

Yes. In addition to ADHD, we work with adults who are autistic, have sensory processing differences, or identify as neurodivergent in other ways. Both Erin and Sue have specific training and experience supporting neurodivergent adults, including those navigating professional and relationship challenges related to their neurodivergence.
